good bluetooth mouse?? - Page 2

I have never installed any IntelliPoint Drivers for it. Others have, and still used internal Bluetooth.

Buttons four & five are default Forward/back and prefer the ALPS "Auto-Scroll" to the "side-scroll".

Others have reported using the IntelliPoint, but they hold no advantage for my use. It has been said that IntelliPoint will co-exist with ALPS, but I saw no need to complicate things.

ALPS Control Console added a "Bluetooth Mouse tab/page for the Battery status and warning settings.

I could reprogram buttons one & two if I wanted and speed is controled by ALPS.

Wheel Settings (lines or pages) as well as 'hover response' can be set in XP Power Tools (download from MS).

Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for BlueTooth - absolutely flawless operation for the past year.

I bought the MS Bluetooth mouse this afternoon, and was disappointed so I returned it this evening. You can't customise the left scroll/right scroll buttons of the wheel, and since this was important to me, I took it back. I also found that even on the max speed movement of the mouse, it wasn't fast enough with "Enhance pointer precision" on. Oh well. My quest for a great BT mouse continues.

We knew the Wheel's "tilt" had no function without IntelliPoint, are you saying that even with IntelliPoint, that you could not "Program" a function for the "tilt"?

Not FAST Enough??? what Bluetooth are you using? mine is at least twice as fast as the screen refresh and this is with "Enhance pointer precision" on.

Hope you find a mouse that pleases you

Correct to both. I'm using the Dell 350 internal BT card, and even with max speed on, I have to pick up my mouse once when scrolling across the screen. No problems with my RF Logitech MX1000. And yes, you can not program the left tilt/right tilt of the middle mouse button, even WITH Intellipoint. It's simply not one of the buttons listed in the software to program.

I don't suppose anyone has a link to a good, recent bluetooth mouse roundup, do they? I'm in the market for one.

Something not right with that. With a D800 Wide Screen (WUXGA) it measures from ¾" to 1 ¼" (2-3.5 CM) edge to edge and slower movement takes the longer (1.25") movement.

Also, any comments on the tilt customizing?

IntelliPoint settings

Tilt Wheel is the one thing that is inop on mine, because IntelliPoint Software was never installed.

Never bothered me at all, as I much prefer the scroll control (all directions) with the ALPS "Auto-Scroll".

(That's one place they even outdo Synaptics with)

IntelliMouse activates it by a press on the Wheel.

(Firefox also has an extension to further 'smooth' the Wheel action inside their Browser
(vertical scroll no longer 'jumps' but rather a constant scroll)

Glad you have informed us that it offers no 'Customization' with IntelliPoint,
as I would not have wanted 'side-scroll'
but since it is the one control that is not used for anything else, I might have liked to set it for copy/paste, (or something )

On the ALPS Touch Pad Properties in Device Manager;

I have Sample Rate set to 200 reports/second
Assume Wheel is present
Input Buffer Length of 300 packets
[check] Fast Initialization.

Those are above the default settings

Its pretty much a given that either the MS or the Log mouse will be another AMD vs Intel debate. Pick one. stick with it. be happy.

Me? I like M$.
