As for the 700 vs the TX, they are two different laptops for different purposes - the 700m is larger and heavier with poorer batterylife but in turn offers more power. The TX is smaller, lighter, carbon fibre chassis, instant-on and is virtually unsurpassed in batterylife. Also, Dell don't sell the 700/710 here so use Europeans can't even buy one if we want to.
As for Dell having a better reputation than Sony, I assume you're referring to your personal view rather than any meaningful statistic.
I would have liked to buy a Dell, I spent a long time debating the X1 but in the ultralights, especially the limited European range can't match the TX for being ultralight but still practical. At the very least Dell need more machines with onboard optical drives.
