Sony Vaio S5XP or TX1XP

Thread Starter
I'm looking to purchase either a Sony Vaio S5XP or TX1XP but finding it hard to decide. I am a current owner of Sony TR1MP.

I need reasonable power and portability.

I like the idea of the bigger screen of the S5XP.

Has anyone any experience of either of these machines?

Thanks

p.s. Does anyone know if either of these notebooks have Gigabit Ethernet?

I think that they both have 10/100 base ethernet. I own the S5XP and I have to say that it is a wonderful machine.

Also, I've been into a shop and used a TX. Very nice indeed. If you're looking for power then the S5 is that and is still very portable (I carry it with me all the time). The TX however is more portable.

I'd go with the S5 its a really good compromise.

If I was having one laptop, I would probably go for the S5 - the TX is a great little machine but it does make sacrifices for its size, it obviously has the ULV processor but it also has a fairly sluggish 1.8 inch drive running at 4200rpm. These compromises are fine for me because I have a big DTR when I need more power, the TX compliments it well but if I only had one machine I'd find the TX frustrating.
