M6805 LCD Replacement?

I am new to the notebook forum and to notebooks in general and could use some help or direction. I have 2 emachine M6805 computers. One has a physically broken LCD, The other has some boot problems but the LCD is perfect. What do I need to do to replace or switch them. I would guess that I could leave the inverter in place and just swap lids with each other. What do I really need to know and is this something that can be done by a person with electronics background and mechanical dexterity.

You don't need to take apart the LCD assembly (the entire upper part that folds). The inverter is inside this assembly.

Do you have a warranty?

No warranty just want to end up with one operational. I thought the inverter was in the chassis at the rear on top.

If your so inclined Compman55 has a guide that will help you on your journey.

If you are picky and find that one lid is better than the other, then you will have a diaster of a time being lots of stuff has to come apart. But if you just want to swap the entire LCD/LID then follow on.

My guides do not go in that deep, but they will get you close. You will need to follow my ram guide to get into the laptop. Before diging into the topside, you will want to remove the WiFi Card access door to pull off the antenna wires. From the topside of the laptop, you will need to pull those thru. On each hinge on the topside you will find one screw holding it down to the chassis, remove both of those and you will now be able to lift off the LCD, just make sure you unplug the wires for the inverter feed, OPEN/CLOSE switch and the LVDS cable (LCD Signal Wire). Keep us posted on how you make out.
