I have a Mitac 8050 that I bought from RJ Tech in the summer of 2004. For the past few months I have been having a problem with the power adapter not always getting good contact and charging/powering the laptop. Finally about a week ago the center pin on the jack inside the notebook snapped off completely. I dissasembled the system and pulled the motherboard. I also ordered a replacement jack off ebay. Its obvious what needs to be done. The broken jack has to be desoldered and the new one soldered on.
I'm a little nervous about doing this. I have an experienced solderer that will do it for me. I know this is a common problem, what are other people's experiences with doing this job? Any tips?
Thanks alot.
