Scratching noise coming from new 9300

I just got a replacement for my 9300 that had more than half a dozen dead pixels on it.

The replacement they sent had a better screen.........but its a lot worse than my other one.

the replcement they sent makes this high pitched scratching sound that actually hurts my ears, I kid you not.

I think it seems to be coming from the HD. It is VERY loud and does not go away. It sounds like BZZZZ-BZZZZZ-BZZZZ-BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

It just doesn't go the **** away.

Should I send it in for a 3rd replacement or what?

The 1st 9300 I bought had major screen issues, dead pixels and major light leakage.

this one seems to have a perfect screen but this high pitched scratching noise is making me crazy.

I told them I wanted my money back on the first 9300 but the customer support lady gave me a free back pack for all of my troubles.

I really dont want to return this one, all of the hassle, etc. But I think I might need to.

I just got mine Christmas. I think I've heard this same scratching sound. At any rate, I too have heard a sound which I believe to be coming from the HDD, and it scares me. But I have everything backed up on my WD external, so I'm good

I hear a really loud high pitched noise coming out of the fan area. I think I'm gunna call Dell and get them to send someone over. And I'm gunna call back and make them come again just because I can

I tried to get them to replace my hard drive because it makes a loud buzzzing sound, and their responce was something like if it still works, we are not going to replace it. That really sucks, because its lound and annoying! I also had to send in my computer for a new screen because I had alot of dead pixels. At least they fixed that.

might be the video card, i notice mine did it when i move my mouse up and down my buddy list in trillian.

dont send it back. do an lcd transplant, keep the good one and then send back the crap one.
Um. the high pitched whine is coming from your video card. And it can't be fixed. All 9300s/xps2/m170s have it.

And it shouldn't bother, and if its actually loud or somehting, might b e something different.

Actually, not all 9300's have this problem. I only got the problem after the Dell tech swapped my gfx card (for no real reason) and I ended up with an NV41 card instead of an NV42.. the NV42 was dead silent for as long as I had it.

My 9300 is silent as a mouse. I cant hear a peep, even when the fan is on I dont hear a thing. I am very impressed.
