Firewire driver for Inspirion 8600

Hello,

I have bought a Sony DCR-HC19E Handycam MiniDV Camcorder. I have also bought the required Firewire cable. It connects to the Handycam too however is the transfer to the laptop choppy and it freezes/crashes sometimes too.

I guess I need to update the firewire driver on the laptop. Where do I find an appropriate driver please?

It is my first time using the onboard Firewire port on the I8600. Is it reliable? Or shall I better buy a PCMCIA Firewire? But which one is alright? There are so many different types of Firewire. Please help!

Thanks
Houmie

there isnt a firewire driver.

Ive used it the firewire constantly on my 8600 since i bought it, and never experienced any problems.

If you have access to an external harddisk, or other stuff with firewire you can test that to see if you have an specific problem.

The software that comes with is choppy.
Adobe Elements 2.0 and Movie maker freeze and crash.

Do you think it is the cable?

Thanks
