Dell 9300

Hey All,

I have $1500 to spend and was thinking the 9300 might be my best option for running games and audio editing

games such as:
WoW
BF2

Any opinions for other laptops in the price range?

Anyone gaming on this machine? What games and how do they run?

Thanks

while i dont own one, from what ive read they will generally run any game. The 6800 series is great for games, and the 9300 is best in terms of bang for your buck. You can even toss in a 7800 for the best of the best in video cards.

i guess i would have to buy the 7800 myself as dell does not have it listed?

Yes, you would have to buy the 7800 yourself, and do the surgery.

But its great insurance to know that if and when you need to, you will be able to upgrade to an incredibly powerful gpu card. There is a very thorough walkthru on how to upgrade your 9300 posted onthe site somewhere (serach for it). and the parts come up to about $400~$500 I think and thats obviously will godown as time passes.

thats correct, quite a few of the mombers on the board have done it. You can only get it stock on the xps.

Dell loads their systems with lots of software, much of which isn't very useful. A lot of people just reformat the computer when it comes in. I uninstalled what I didn't want. Either way works fine.

Reformat now when you get it or reformat later when the registry taps out after uninstalling so much software that controls key components of the computer. Only way to completely get rid of all of it is to reformat.
