However, linux is not for everyone. If you dont like manually changing things to get apps to work maybe its not for you. Ubuntu is a noob firendly distro, like abf said, whoever was having the issues is because you had the wrong repositories. I keep a tiny partition for windows, for games also. C.S 1.6 and TFC . I know there is wine and cedega and what not, but just havent done that. Dont want to.
im not "still" in kubuntu, ive used more advanced stuff in the past, i just came back to it cause i dont really like doing all that stuff. Im more into the kde side of things rather than the linux part, so i want a distro which works well and has good kde packaging. kubuntu and suse are the best in this regard.
and no, its not my main OS. i learnt that the hard way last time with breezy. i have two partitions on my hdd, so i am running breezy and dapper together(going to replace dapper with suse 10.1 beta 1 when it comes out). i installed dapper using apt from breezy and worked great, x worked out of the box. im having problems with the nvidia driver though, so ill have to figure that one out.
as for wine. TFC and cs 1.6 run smooth as silk in cedega.if youre not doing anything more demanding, might wanna look int osetting it up.
