Installing Microsoft Intellimouse Drivers WITH Alps Touchpad Drivers?

Hey guys, Thanks ahead for any help.

A few months ago, I installed the drivers for my Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer Platinum and it installed over my Alps Touchpad Drivers.

So I reinstalled the Alps Touchpad driver as I could do without the tilt wheel features on the Microsoft Mouse.

Just recently, I purchased the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth (What a Beauty. ) and want to know if I can install the driver alongside my Alps touchpad. I think its the same driver as the intellimouse explorer platinum.

Wrap-Up:
Basically I am asking if there is a way to install both the Alps Touchpad and Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer drivers alongside eachother.

Thanks for any help.
Happy New Year!

Yes, you can. But you have to uninstall the Alps driver, install the Intellipoint software, then reinstall the Alps driver. I tried just installing Intellipoint over the Alps driver when I initially bought my MS Wireless Notebook Optical mouse, and it worked great initially...until I rebooted. Then the Alps options were gone. No more scrolling using the touchpad, or other functions. Reinstalled using the above method, and everythings hunky-dory.

Well basically, when I go to "Mouse" under Control Panel, I just want to see all the tab features for both the ALPs Touchpad and the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. Best of both worlds.

Hmm, I'll try that out. Thanks 911medic.

If I recall correctly, you can't use the touchpad and a PS/2 mouse at the same time (the touchpad believes it's a PS/2 device, and you can only have one PS/2 mouse on the system at a time). Therefore, make sure your Intellimouse is of the USB variety.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that was a problem for me and my older Dell laptop.

The 9300 has no PS/2 ports, just USB. And if it helps anyone, I was able to install the Logitech drivers and software with no effect to the Alps driver.

I never opened the IntelliPoint CD that came with my BT IntelliMouse
and it was a plug 'n play install with the ALPS Console controlling all
but the 'tilt' and buttons four & five (default is Forward/Back).

It even added a "Bluetooth" page with a battery gauge and Low Battery Alarm
(gives four day warning after eight weeks continous use)

Although I can't think of what IntelliPoint would do for me,
would be interested to know if ALPS maintains its settings
through reboot alongside IntelliPoint.

It has been reported that this was a problem alongside Logitech's TrackPoint or SetPoint?
