Thread Starter
Today Asus announced that the Z62F/J 14" Napa based laptop system will be available February 1. The Z62F will use Intel's 945GM embedded graphics solution and the Z62J will offer a discrete GPU that is, as yet, unannounced.

Preliminary specs suggest the Z62F/J will use SATA drives only, offers a 4 hour runtime (6 cell 4800mAh Li-Ion battery), has a WXGA glossy screen and will have a system weight of approx. 5.5lbs.

No clue on pricing at this point.

Is there an online article?

Nope.

So far, I assume it is a more effecient w3v since it gets the same hours of use with a 6-cell. This and the w3v are both the same weight. So I would have to assume that it would have an effecient card. Maybe an x1600. lol i doubt it.

Bear in mind that the runtime specs might well be for the Z62F using an integrated graphics solution and NOT the Z62J which will have a discrete GPU.

edited your letters for consistency in the first post, you called both of them "F", then a couple posts down you called them "F/G". I'm assuming F/J is the proper scheme, so that's what I changed them to. Feel free to correct me if I was wrong.

is this an ensemble or a bba unit? if it is an ensemble, it doenst do much good since it will just be priced the same as the current w3v, and probably include the 7600go(non gtx). If it is an ensemble, it would be very interesting since it should be priced right below the next z70Va, and perform just a little slower(im assuming).

Djembe, thanks for the correction, never was very good with the alphabet

Drizek, these two models are Built Ons, though there are a couple models they also announced that are ensembles but I believe those are all integrated graphics and rather "lightly" pre-configured.

Here is the link to early specs and pictures. Notice these pictures dont look any good nor are they accurate. It looks like someone at asus spliced together two laptops into one model. Hope you can figure it out. if this is the z63a's replacement i am not impressed. This thing better be atleast 100$ cheaper then the z63a. ---> http://www.geared2play.com/store/pro.../z62f/z62f.htm
The pics are at the bottom of the page

I chose not to post the pics and full specs given Asus' disclaimers on the reseller site
post #15 of 40
Lol
Ok then. I win you loose. You will post their eta's which we all know is most likely not correct but you wont post their incorrect pics and maybee specs.?? Very honorable indeed i must apologize to all in advance for warning people that the pics and specs are subject to change. Hope you can all forgive me.

I don't think that the above suggests anything "firm". Nor does my posting of speculative release dates violate Asus' copyrights (per their disclaimer).

No winner or loser, Eddie, just a matter of conformance to Asus' legal rights.

Got ya. I am about to put on my foil cap and surround my self with water. Sorry. Let me put on my serious face
Just for arguments sake. There is a reason why asus releases most of their upcomming product specs to dealers exactly one month before to dealers. Can anyone guess kiddies? Anyways. I think the obvious point is we just did exactly what they expect of us. Next topic.

wow, that has got to be the ugliest asus ive ever seen. it has a docking port though.

Whoa, its like a mix between (dare I say) the Dell 700m and the Z63a.
