Excellent choice! Glad you splurged for the WUXGA and the Ultra. Be sure and let us know how you like it.

I talked to AW yet again, Juan again, and got maybe a better answer. I think the non-ultra screen IS glossy, he said it was plastic that looks like glass, so I think that answers the question. I'm still gonna go to Best Buy tonight and see if I can find something along the same lines to get a feel for what the display will be like.

I think I've made my final decision though, at just under budget:

System:
Area-51® m7700
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 630 Desktop Processor w/ HT Technology 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB 2MB
Video: 256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 6800 Ultra
Display: 17" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD Display
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 533MHz - 2 x 512MB
Wireless: External Wireless 802.11a/b/g PCMCIA Card
Total Cost: $2,456.00
This is a nice configuration. The 6800 ultra is very fast, and by keeping the processor to a lower speed you won't have to worry about heat issues and cost. That'll be a nice computer.

Yeah, thanks, that's what I was going for. After all is said and done I'm still amazed that it's not costing me an arm and a leg to own a system this amazing... just a leg. Which is a good thing, because I'll need my arms to use the laptop.

I'm sure I will.

I sent my financing paperwork back before I placed the order, so, basically the sales rep told me an estimated few more days for the paperwork, should ship on the 16th... I really hope to have it by the end of the month.

Right at the very top of the page for the m5700 notebook it says "17” Wide-Screen LCD with ClearView Technology"

So either thre website is wrong or the sales rep didnt know

It sure does say that, but hit configure and look at your LCD options. On all of the other laptops if clearview is available, it says so in the description... but on the 5700 it doesn't. That label is what confused me too. However, two different AW reps told me the same exact thing, the 5700 doesn't have clearview, and doesn't have a glossy screen.

So, I'm thinking the website is wrong. Of course someone with a 5700 who can tell the difference could clear this up instantly, but I can't find any reviews of a 5700 that provide any help on the issue...

Anyhow, oh well... I've got clearview, I've got glossy, I've got an awesome system comming.
