Great thanks. I am looking at the Fahrenheit temps and

thinking that I have a real big problem. But if it's celcius then I'm ok. Thanks for the clarification!!!!

just to lend a hand in my experience. when i installed mine, with my 6800 go heatsink.. i couldn't get it below 70 C, so i opened it up and tightened the screws thinking it would help.. thats when i coudln't get it under 100 C, so .. it might be becaus you might have tightened your heatsink screws too tightly... i took the whole thing apart and re applied my as5 and now it runs at about 60 C with my old 6800 heatsink.. as far as the power supply problem... i had the "not recognized" message for my a01, but i complained and the ebay seller i bought it from sent me an A02... and it works.. but it only works when its positioned in certain positions.....

wait you installed the 7800 with the 6800vanilla heatsink, I would think it would overheat much easier, why not use the 7800 heatsink?

ya, why on earth did you do that? The 7800 comes with its own heatsink so you shouldnt be using a 6800 one

OK here is a screenshot from I9kFangui, with my 7800gtx installed, using the 90w AC, i'm temporarily running the I9300 A05 bios untill i get a new AC. As you can see the temps are low, but the videocard, northbrige and memory are not being recognised. In the Nvidia controll panel it says my 7800gtx is idle at 44 degrees.

anyone else have this problem?

The two heatsinks are identical except yours has the heatpipe coming off the side of it, Look at the picture in the stickied upgrade thread and you'll see it's a simple fix with a hacksaw or cutoff tool. No need to buy one at all.

actually i thought the same thing too.. but its not.. the heat spreading fins actually are located in different places....theres actually fin things where the heatpipe runs through.. take a closer look... i would need to take a hack saw and cut off some of the heat spreading fins... too.. which..probably would be too difficult.. anyway.. a very generous members has offered to provide me w/ the heatsink for free.. i cannot thank him enough

Just as I was about to reopen my laptop to reseat the 7800gtx because i thought I9kfangui wasn't recognising it. I updated to the I9kfangui 2.3 beta 3 build 4 and..... tatda

looks like everything is fine and dandy
