D has ATI video cards while the 6000 uses Intel integrated graphice (fine for internet and light games)

Also, if you get the 6000 (without the D), it isn't upgradable, so you're stuck with the integrated graphics.

Well until I started reading this forum, I considered notebooks to be non-upgradeable so it was never a thought with me (except memory and HD)

Yeah, its not likely that dell would offer an upgrade to the 6000D. They did to the XPS Gen 2 (M170) because its their top end gaming machine, but the 6000D is more of a mid-class model and unlikely to get that kind of upgrade.

Don't get the 6000d, it'd be the death of gaming! Well, yours atleast.

Um, okay... The OP could just be a casual gamer, which means his needs would be met by the x300. Not everybody needs the power of the 6800, you know. I'm perfectly happy with integrated graphics.

If you don't wanna play but instead need long batterie times I suggest to take integrated graphics - as integrated graphics consumes less power.

Ok so if I go on the dell site and get an insprion 6000 with a dedicated video card like this -

128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X300 PCI Express 16 GraphicsVideo Card

its now an insprion 6000d? or is that video card not dedicated?

better graphics card on 6000D, i recommend you get the 128 meg card so that would be the 6000D.
