Acer Ferrari VS: Asus Lamborghini

post #1 of 44
Thread Starter
The fight between aus and acer has reached a new area.
Asus has made a cooperation with lamborghini to have a pendant for the acer ferrari series. Lets see whats the best sports car :-)

I have found the news online in a german forum.. for all that are interested: News

And here are three Pictures

What do you think? Ferrari oder Lamborghini?

Rumours have it, THe ASUS Lambo is a 15" screen, NOT WIDEScreen, so its really not fair to compare the Ferrari to a Lambo, if it is a 15" screen.

Also from what i see:

Acer Ferrari - when they released the Ferrari series it usually has the BEST stuff in it and the most latest possible technology in it.

I am expecting, just like others, a new Ferrari to compete directly or indirectly againsn't the Lambo depending on screen.

My Assumption is that the New Acer Ferrari will have Yonah DC X30 (1.86), X1600, 1 Gb of Ram, Carbon Fibre, DVI, Bluetooth, WSXGA+ 15.4" screen, and other goodies. [Dimensions and Weight???]

COMPARED TO:

I assume ASUS will also throw in all the latest technology, the rumors suggest the Lambo is based off the V6 series, meaning it would be something like this: Yonah DC X30(1.86), X1600, 1gb ram, CArbon Fibre, NO DVI, Bluetooth, SXGA 15" Screen, and other goodies.

So yah =\, Also there may be 3 models of the Lambo, some of us are hopeing that one model could be Widescreen version.. but who knows..

Expect a 45 day wait till we get absolute details and some pre-orders available in other countries.. untill then we gotta hold tight and wait.

Thanks,

I doubt acer will dump the AMD, but should they stick with AMD imagine the flame wars between ferrari's and LAMBO's. It will be hilarious.

vpr Matrix® 200A5

Stylish and distinctive with a design by F.A. Porsche, the 200A5 looks as impressive as its performance. Its appearance is highlighted by a spacious 15.2” widescreen display all housed in a sleek, lightweight magnesium case with an audio experience perhaps even more exceptional than the video. The powerful 200A5 will make you wonder if you need a desktop PC.

LOL.. the race is on....i just wonder if they were too cheap to give an extra .2 inches to make it a 15.4" screen.....

ACER will not dump AMD from the ferrari because AMD is a Ferrari sponsor.

Well, according to the artice in the other thread, the Lambo will 'debut' tomorrow. From what i read, its a Pentium-M and has a remote....i guess we'll find out the rest tomorrow. I think if the current ferrari doesnt outperform this, the new model (4200) definately will.
post #12 of 44
If acer moves to Yonah for the Ferrari, exactly what is the difference between it and the 8200?

The current ferrari uses the identical chassis as the 8100 (xcept for carbon fiber and rubber panels and colors) but is 64bit AMD. Take the AMD part out of the equation and you simply have a different color 8200.

Like Psychotic_UK said "ACER will not dump AMD from the ferrari because AMD is a Ferrari sponsor" ... so i highly doubt they would put a pentium in the ferrari b/c if they did, then one would defeat the purpose of another.

i agere with amd64lover. but that porsche laptop.... whoa. still have to say, theres no logo. but i guess it speaks to porsche design. :-D
post #15 of 44
That porsche laptop doesnt even come close to comparing to the ferrari or lambo laptop (if its decent, which i assume it will be). The specs are...

* 2.2GHz Intel ® Mobile Pentium ® 4 Processor-M
* 15.2" widescreen LCD display
* 40GB hard drive capacity
* 512MB DDR memory
* DVD/CD-RW combo drive
* 32MB nVidia GeForce4 420 Go Graphics
* Weighs only 6.4 lbs.

These woulda been amazing like 1-2 years ago

I am pretty sure the porsche laptop, is not a Porsche sponsored laptop, also this laptop is pathetic.. it must be real old.. cos of the stuff in it is pathetic.

Weight is a little too high, and yah.. take the porsche outta the runnings... it's not up to gaming standards of today...

Now back to the News of the Lambo Vs Ferrari.

Ok someone said the Lambo is gonna be released real soon and it will have a Pentium-M.. well that's just fine.. w/e.

As for a new Ferrari, Either Acer will release something to break in this new year, and since AMD is sponsoring the Ferrari too. My Guess is the new Ferrari will be a Turion and not a Turion x2 (cos these babys are not out yet).

And since ASUS Lambo is gonna be a Pent-M, both Lambo and Ferrari will be on similar grounds for competition, the Ferrari will be for sure Widescreen, and the Lambo is gonna be 4:3 !

So the winner of this race is subjective to what you want, But Thumbs up for the Ferrari being Widescreen. (WS is definately the way to go)

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks,

Looks like the Lambo is simply using the V6v chasis. I am guessing Asus is too lazy to design a new chasis just for the Lambo notebook, so they take one of their best current designs and slap on the logo....a bit cheap if u ask me. Well lets wait fo the specs and prices.
post #18 of 44
No widescreen = no contest. Thats just me though.
post #19 of 44
i wasnt saying the porsche was endorsed, or better than any of the others... simply they needed one, apparently there is one, etc. too bad it sucks, lol.
post #20 of 44
You can't compare laptops, period. Everyone has different tastes and needs for them. One might choose performance over mobility, another might choose battery life over performance, someone else might choose looks over everything, then theres us Ferrari owners who take the best of all worlds
Hahaha.
