Ati 128mb X300 - Page 3

The 700m with a 1680x1050 resolution screen with 7800 graphics would be perfect.

I play AOE3 just fine on my 1100 with IIG @ medium settings.

Tell me how to check the framerates and I do that as soon as I get home.

Wuss

The 9300 seems light to me because of a couple reasons:
1. it's the same weight as my 1100
2. with the kensington bp, the 9300 is lighter carrying around that my 1100 in my cheap backpack. I think the kensington does a great job of distributing the weight.

if I were traveling 5 days a week (will be soon) I'd certainly go with the D610 or even a lightweight Mac.

A 12" screen with 1680x1050 resolution? That would be rediculously tiny!

Fine, 1440x900.

12" screen would be too small for gaming anyway. I think 14" widescreen at 1440x900 would be best. (Along with the 7800 of course)

You are confusing the difference in the actual dimensions and weight of the i6000 and the i9300 with how much one is aware of the difference in practice. There is no way that in fact the i9300 is really "no worse" in portability than the i6000 if it is bigger and heavier. Other than for price differences, no-one would buy the i6000 over the i9300 if there was no difference in portability.

Personal preference is the important in the choice of an i6000 & an i9300.

You said it. Price differences. Same for the 700m. If there were no portability differences no one would get it either.

Going on Dell-provided physical dimensions (final difference depends on choice of variable components such as screen and video card), base size difference between i6000 and i9300 is a matter of 5% less height, 9% less width, 8% less depth, and 20% less weight. How much those figures matter to the individual depends on how much they notice carrying more size and weight - and also what else is carried with the notebook - though a notebook in itself might be OK to carry around, the notebook plus likely daily additions (like books) might hit a critical point where the burden becomes "too much". I also find that the choice of carrying case can make a big difference to any burden - but then that external variable affects every size and weight equally...a heavier notebook seems lighter, a lighter notebook even lighter still...
