Remember that 3DMARK is a synthetic benchmarking utility. The app claims to test the GPU but clearly calculates mainboard RAM and CPU dynamics into your 3DMARK score. This IS NOT a valid benchmarking tool, however, the whole question of validity could be completely rectified by simply changing the tool's name.WHAT'S IN A NAME:
In my opinion, unless Futuremark changes the name, the app is completely discredible for its intended application, which is derived from its name, "3D"MARK XX', a GPU benchmarking utility/tool.
The name 3DMARK implies you are testing the GPU and nothing more. So this would mean that this tool benchmarks the dynamics of your GPU ONLY based on what the tool's name implies, (3D) MARK.
One could argue that performance characteristics of a GPU are clearly influenced by mainboard RAM and the CPU. I would agree, however, the current name of the app does not imply this relationship and misleads folks.
My feelings are that Futuremark needs to change the name of "3DMARK XX'" to something like "GAMERMARK XX'" or GAMEMARK XX'".
This properly conveys the purpose and scope of the tool and clearly defines that several factors affect GPU performance, not just GPU dynamics.CONCLUSION:
So as you mentioned, when you can OC your 5720 FSB, YOU WILL increase your 3DMARK05' score. And YOU WILL become a member of the 8000 club quite easily.
Congrats to you and awesome score!
