Yes, PLS post your BIOS

I have a week old NP5720-C from Sager with bios version: SONOMA01.86C.0052.D.0511211458 dated 11/21/05
No FSB OC option.

I will contact Sager but I don't think I'll get far

Hey Guys,

I flashed the original BIOS from Rockdirect's Rock Xtreme CT into my m570a and still no OC option.

Strange thing is that my BIOS version and date did not change! How come?
As I've already said, if you do not own a 2.13 Ghz processor or posibly a 2.0 odds are that you won't have the option in your BIOS, even if you do flash it.

Klaash Silent64
I've tried the Rock bios and it doesn't appear to update all the bios, all it seems to change is the section of the bios that affects the fans/touchpad.
I flashed both of the ones that come on their bootup disk, the original and the fixed, but it changes nothing else, as Klaash says not even the date or version.
I do have a 2.13 in there.

Is there an app to examine these bioses to compare the differences?
no app, I have the Pheonix Bios Editor Demo, the real deal costs 6k!!!

Hi, I asked Sager why some 5720's have the OC option and some other lach the option. Reply;

"our 5720 did not have that option.."

I asked the same question to Clevo and they replied;

Dear User,
The problem comes from SATA controller, if your HDD is SATA HDD then the system will be very easy to hang up because the SATA controller and HDD can't stand overclock, for your information.

Someone try this bios out:
Dude, that's the BIOS for the nVidia 7800GTX but here we are talking about the BIOS of the Clevo M570a itself.
why do people always mix that up? is it so hard to read carefully? lol
in the vga thread they talk about the main bios and vice versa.
ah and klaas thanks for further investigating this problem with the bios. so now the guys who can overlcokc: do you have pata or sata harddisks?

i can overclock in the bios and have pata so its as klaas said.
I have sata and do not have the oc option in the bios.
I really wish I did

maybe we should just get a pata device? which one is on the adaptor, pata or sata? and yes this has nothing to do with VGA...

Funny as hell that it ended up being the SATA controller, lol. Of all things, this would have been the last thing I would have ever thought of...

The poll data is useless but fun and revealing none the less!

OK, just for clarification

I have a 2.26Ghz P-m780
SATA HDD 60GB

If I replace the SATA with a PATA HDD, then can I enable the option? Do I still need a reflash? I have a Sager 5720-C from Sager direct.
