They say "SAGER doesn't provide or support any BIOS that can enable the overclocking function."

Pretty generic response.

So...

Who went with the PATA hdd option? And, do [you] have an OC option in the BIOS?
i have the pata and have the option... as do all the other pata owners.
what i meant by saying nobody knows is if you change your device from sata to pata, will you have the option in the bios ?!?!
well. Sager just got my RMA"d unit. I am thinking about trying to convince them of the wisdom of replacing my SATA with PATA. Better throughput, plus some OC'ability would be nice.

Now, which would be better. A 5400 rpm ata-6 160Gb or a 7200 rpm ultra ata 100Gb ? ^_^
The extra space would be nice, but if there is a big difference in read times it wouldn't be worth it.
Here are more details:

N82E16822146230
ST910021A
Seagate
Momentus 7200.1
100GB
8MB
10.5ms
4.2ms
7200 RPM
Ultra ATA/100
2.5"

N82E16822148073
ST9160821A
Seagate
Momentus 5400.3
160GB
8MB
12.5ms
5.6ms
5400 RPM
ATA-6
2.5"

Any ideas? I would be very greatful~

kitty get the smaller but faster one. if you need extra space then buy an external one. that comes a lot cheaper.
Yeah I think what I will do is get the 100G 7200 rpm one, and then use my current one in an external drive if possible. I know they make the small external usb 2.0 drive enclosures for laptop hard drives. But do they have anything that would work with a sata one?
I have never looked into it.
Thanks for the advice!

dont buy yet k1tty, I get mine back monday with a new dvd, and more importantly a PATA 7200, 80 gig, and an updated BIOS. I will let ya know if it all works as planned....

i have an old pata 40gb 5400 rpm drive lying around here and would also like to know if there are adapters for those drives to use them externaly.

Ok Doc, I will wait to see how yours is. It will be interesting to see if the bios is changed or only a certain revision works etc.

As for the external drive, they have several that are very small and run off of usb 2.0 that fit the notebook hdd. This is nice because you don't have to lug around a big enclosure and a power cord etc. It powers itself off of the usb port. But, I have yet to find one that will accept a serial ata hdd. They are so far all made for pata from what I can tell.
