Inspiron 6000 - My backlight leakage *PICS*

This is for any of you who've experienced backlight leakage with the i6000.
I know that STI sev has gone through quite a few crappy LCDs, as well as a lot of other members here.

Would it be worth it to even exchange my lcd, or should I consider myself lucky?
I have a box and a shipping sticker already on its way to me, and the tech put a note to use an LG lcd if possible. Should I go ahead with the exchange, or is this as good as it gets?

Here are two pictures, one with a short shutter speed, and one with a longer one.

I don't think it's that bad to be honest... You could try another one for comparison, but don't expect a LG!

Doesn't look that bad to me. Maybe its the picture?

If you call that light leakage you definately don't wanna see the cheap noname laptop my wife uses for years. Her bottom lines have about 3 times the brightness than the top lines of the display.

So...not that bad eh?
That is not bad. Danger about getting a new screen is it could very well be worse.

Or have dead pixels.
Question is, do you see the leakage during working with the laptop, only if you do and it annoys you I would ask for a replacement.

It looks pretty alright. Better than some of those horrible light leakages posted in this forum. If you ask for a replacement, it might turn out to be far worse & you will also have to endure days of being troubled by "whether to keep your current one or exchange it" questions!!!
We can not tell you whether it is bad or not unanimously. You should decide whether you are comfortable with the screen.

well, I just want to know how it compares to yours. If I have about the same (or less) leakage than the majority of you, then there is no point in doing the exchange. If there is significantly more leakage than most of you, then I should exchange it

So I guess I'm really asking, how does my screen compare to the rest of you 6000 owners?

Hmm, to be honest I don't see this "light leakage" some of you speak of. I can't see it when looking at the LCD in your pics. I've read so much about it, but don't get what it is. My LCD is just fine. If I have light leakage, I wouldn't know what to look for, and don't know I have it. LOL, then again I don't know what it is! I'm satisfied with my 6000's screen.

Alot of people must be having this problem with newer dell i6000's , Dell must of gone cheap.. hmm.. My screen is almost perfect.

THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN.

The techs told me the SAME thing, but THEY DO NOT SHIP OUT LG MONITORS. The only ones they have available are the Samsungs, which exhibit the light leakage, brightness/contrast, and "fading to black" (on bottom L/R sides) problems that is common with the Samsung monitors.

Your light leakage is not that bad. It's actually pretty good considering the almost criminally-crappy nature of the i6000d's Samsung monitor.
