Help installing Ubuntu over an old SuSE partion

OK got my Ubuntu cd in the mail trying to install it but it keeps saying that there is no root file system detected even though I have formatted the SuSE partations and set them up just like they were before one is a

1.1gig SWAP
the other is
a 9.5 gig reiserfs

I left my windows install alone so I have this set up

SCMSI1 (0,0,0) (sda) - 60.0GB ATA HTS726060M9AT00
#1 primary 49.4 GB Bootalble______ntfs__________/media/sda1
#2 primary 1.1 GB format________swap_________swap
#3 primary 9.5 GB format________reiserfs_______/media/sda3


sucks help me please because I cant even get back into windows now GRUB keeps giving me erroe code 15

well, one you can Boot from a Windows boot floppy, get to a DOS prompt, and type fdisk /mbr. Then reboot. But this will only give you windows back and would overwrite your boot record though, you wont be able to get to linux, but you are installing ubuntu anyways right?. Or, reinstall grub youd need a live cd for that.

Well you should always be able to use the boot cd to allow you to modify the grub.conf

However on that topic what does your /boot/grub.conf look like?
