By the way 64 bit computing is dead and will continue like this probably for the next 5 years.
64 bit computing is dead? That's ignorant..

..and the Inspiron 9400 with gadgets cost me less than $1700..

Wish it were a SAGER.. I love the SAGER..

C'mon SAGER! You made me buy a Dell! I hate you!

..okay, so they didn't make me buy it.. it was a good deal.. I know I'm going to regret not having 64 bit support.. *sigh*

Ok Black Barney, you are the master of computer business!! How is it possible that a Dell Inspiron 9400 with all gadgets cost you $1700?

These are the gadgets I'm talking about.

-17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
-2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
-Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
-Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
-PC Restore recovery system by Symantec
-80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
-8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
-256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 7800
-53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
-Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps)
-Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 6.0 edit

I don't know about you but I only know one Dell website and all their Inspiron's Duo Core start at 1999, please tell us all how you do it and maybe everyone in this forum can save a couple of bucks!!!

i dont see the hype about dual core... and why get a 9400 that has a watered down nvidia7800? And yea, Yonah really is a filler until merom comes out. And if you cant wait till then, why waste money on a dual core thats really expensive.

so i see, the 4800 is right above my post.....

Intel and AMD will always have a newer, better , faster right around the corner. In 2 years I will put my 5720 on Craigslist and get whatever's the best then......

Dual core has SERIOUS benefits in multitasking and multithreaded apps. Like, HUGE. 50% + performance boosts. (At least, the X2 does, havn't seen yonah benchs)

But, single threaded, not too much boost.

But thats if your using multithreaded apps. For the average user [like me] that plays games, writes papers and listens to music, i dont see the need to pay that much extra for a special intel sticker on my laptop.

that's completely wrong. win xp is multithreaded, which means that it asigns tasks to different cores. so you can have antivirus scan, firewall, data backup, listen to music on one core and burn a dvd and run im's and such on the other core and you will definitely notice a difference in performance. this is true even though none of those individual applications are mutlicore threaded.
