Hi Guys,

Here's an interesting problem for you to try and solve

I have a 5600P, with win XP pro.

I just replaced the desktop 2.4ghz CPU chip with a 1.8GHz P4-M.

However, it doesn't boot up when it is plugged into the mains AC.
It hangs just before loading the winxp logo (black with flashing white cursor).
It boots fine from battery (and then I can switch it to mains once booted into windows) (also speedstep is working in this situation, since the laptop benchmarks are half the amount, and the computer is much slower)

Also, it boots fine off mains when I switch off speedstep in the BIOS, meaning there is a speedstep problem. Has anyone seen this before,or know how to fix it?

I have the latest bios R1.01.10a, and keyboard BIOS 1.00.15.

I have already checked I have the 845 - Mobile chipset with intel chipset checker, and it reports the cpu as a 1.8ghz mobile fine with the intel CPU checker, so speedstep should work fine. I also have all the latest drivers installed for chipset, graphics etc...

I really haven't got a clue why the speedstep isn't working off mains on this 5600P. I think it may be a general BIOS issue, and wanted to see if anyone had seen it, or could solve it... Ive looked everywhere for a solution. Help!! Thanks Guys!
