Whats ur Laptop temp? - Page 2

Does your processor run slower after undervolting? I mean, I'm not really worried about it, as I don't really need all the processing power, and I have 2GB of RAM that should keep it plenty fast, but I just want to know out of curiosity. Also, is there a guide to effective undervolting out there somewhere? When I read your post, I figured I could just do it through Notebook Hardware Control, but if there's a better way to do it, then I would look into it.

It doesnt lower performance.... generally intel crank up the voltage a little to increase stability... the amount you can undervolt depends on the processor... and with even 2 identical processors undervolting differently......

here a good guide:

I used this method to find my min... then use notebook harware control to maintain it.

Idles at 28c full load 40c . GPU stays pretty cool at 52c full load 45c idle. Hard drive , 40-45c

Man, even after undervolting, my temps aren't anywhere near as cool as yours. I get about 40 idle, and so far, no more than 52 at full load. Of course, it was at 63 full load when I started the Prime95 torture test so that I could start the undervolting process, so I guess it's better than nothing.

You guys and your Dells, your crazy. Idle at 28C and full load at 40C? Dell must be putting liquid cooling on those new notebooks. My Compaq idles at 43C and hits a whopping 71C when pushed hard. Thats with an overclocked Celeron 1.6-2.13 and an x700 right next to it. From what I was told, Pentium M's are good to 100C. If yours is truley NEVER going over 40C, then u should be running that sucker at like 3ghz.

I use i8kfangui with my 1.8GHz 9200, and CPU temp ranges from 30C to 35C with low usage (web browsing, email, etc. at 500 or 600MHz.) With games at full load, it'll get up to 50C with fans on high, but that's about it. It's just over a year old, completely stock, and I've never done anything to clean out any dust that might've built up.

How do you get it to go to 500 or 600MHz? Mine won't go below 800.

Lol i dont want a fried CPU :P I was very lucky with this laptop. I ordered it refurbished (before the refresh of refurb system) And i beleive it was brand new, and is in perfect condition. So i dont think there is any AS5 on my CPU. but its crazy i get really good temps.. Even in Linux ( runs hotter than windows) my surfing/texting temp is 32C. The only reason it goes past 40C is if i have it on the bed and the vents are covered

My 8 month old 6000 is running at 33C on both CPU and HD. Is that good?
Yeah, that's really good, especially for such a powerful processor.

It's really funny to read all this temperatures, they mean nothing without more information... are the fans on? how hot is the room? Surely if I would live in the Artic, I won't need artic silver ... but in Spain, at 25ºC room temperature, no fans on, my Pentium M 2.1Ghz idle at about 40º, and never goes over 60ºC (at full load both fans are, of course, on).

Idles at 28, up to 33-35 for normal browsing, hits about 38 playing games.

Room temperature is about 23 degrees.

Well to add to my 33C on both HD and CPU, I should mention that I have the NOTEPAL Cooler Master. haha, I guess that does make a difference.

i get 30 - 35 deg C on idle/minimal seeking on my hdd and I don't have a notebook cooler.. i still want one though
post #35 of 37
i have a notebook cooler.. made no difference.... however turning my central heating off made a huge difference.. idle went down to 24 degrees... saved on my gas bill also... Downside was i freezed my a$$ off! and couldnt type because i was so cold!

just got my new notebook yesterday. inspiron 1200. fairly nice (1.4g celeron m, 768mb ram, 40gb hdd, minipci b/g wireless). but i too have noticed the temps getting pretty outrageous. at times it would read up around 60-65 on the cpu. im currently got i9kfangui running while on ac power and I have the main fan running continuously and the cpu temp is down to 34 at this moment. seems as if im going to have to look into some thermal paste.
