Thread Starter
Hello,

I o/c my go6800 369/760 with latest "tweak" drivers and my score is only 4422. GPU temp at idle is 54C. I disabled most of the non-necessary processes and im not satisfied. What else do i need to do besides opening up my computer to break the 4500 mark. Also, i cleaned registry via registry mechanic and defraged before running 3dmark. Please help. TIA.

Why Does it SUCK?

If you want better.. go for a 7800.. Simple

Look in my Sig.. I dont get that much.. So calm down..
its only 78 more points...
it's not going to make any differences in any games...

For a regular 6800 go, those scores are pretty good.

Why is everyone so anal about numbers? I got a 6800go with the laptopvideo2go drivers(81.95) and it's good to go without OC. I OC it once to see how much faster(fps) I would get and it gives about 10 more fps with the games I play. But most games even without OC runs faster than 60 fps. Your eyes can't even see the difference over 30 fps anyway.

Yeah, that score isn't bad at all man. Check out my OC and my score. Screw your aquamark score and look in the actual games. If you still have a problem, then shell out for the 7800gtx.

Edit: To increase your score, overclock more. It's that simple.

Those scores are great for 6800 go.

Grow up and stop playing 3DMark. That simple .

Your eyes can detect in excess of 70FPS, dunno where you got your numbers from.

haha who cares about a 3dmark, I was happy to overclock my score from 3700 to 4300.. that will do me ;p

Your TV is running 30fps, does that bother you, or did you have to overclock your tv mr k6

Poor comparison. Your TV's constant refresh rate while watching video has nothing to do with your minimum framerate during a game. I believe motion pictures (movie projectors) run at less than 30fps...and we dont complain about that either. Its not quite the same thing.

I have never heard that our eyes are able to detect over 70fps either. So Im not defending Mr K6 either (although, I dont want to dispute him since I dont know for a fact).
I do know that most of my games do NOT run over 60 frames per second at the visual settings that I find acceptable. All that matters to me is that my framerate remains over 30fps at all times. I found that the only way thats possible in games like FEAR, Quake4, CoD2, etc...is to overclock. I need to get a high framerate (60+ fps) in order to assure that it will not drop below 30.

But...I agree with everyone else. That 3Dmark score is great...but who cares anyway
3Dmark is not a good indicator of "real-world" gaming performance.

C12ack: As long as you get decent frame rates in the games that you play, I think that's what matters the most. Do not preoccupy yourself with the mark05 scores because I don't think it is a true measure of what your laptop is really capable of.

My highest score is 4421 oc'd at 368/746 which is relatively low, but I get an average of around 45-50 fps in FarCry and HL2, around 25-30 in COD2, all high settings, and that's good enough for me. I'm a happy gamer.

Yes, 3DMark05 is not the bottomline on the worth of your computer, unless you're a benchaholic, and then I'd ask why you got a laptop in the first place .

As far as FPS goes, google it, there's alot on it. In my own experience, I did a project on this in tech class in 8th grade. We each sat down in this chamber and watched a screen that would change and we would say whether or not we detected a change. Anyway, I was able to detect up to 74FPS and some kid in my class got 82FPS (dunno if he was telling the truth though, it was 8th grade ). Anyway, you can test this yourself, but it's easiest to do this on a CRT capable of 100Hz+ refresh rate. Most movies run at 24FPS, but TV is in the 30FPS, as stated. If I look at movies and then TV back and forth, I can easily see the FPS difference, but I think this depends on how sensitive your eyes are. For a more comprehensive test, open up HL2 on a high FPS CRT and put fps_max 15 in the console to limit the max FPS to 15. Then do 20, then 30, then 40, then 50 etc all the way up to 100. You'll notice a big difference in the way the game plays and the way your eyes perceive the game up to 70FPS anyway. That's how you know how high your eyes can detect. It's very subjective, and everyone is different, but that's the best way I can think of explaining it. For the record, I enjoy playing my games at 30FPS because it gives them a movie like quality. I think when the FPS goes to 60 the games start looking gamey and cartoony.

Hope the helped,

When it comes down to it, these numbers are just bragging rights. "My computer is better than yours because at xx:xx:xx a.m. on the xx/xx/05 it ran faster than yours because I got a higher number". Just look at all the sigs. with benchmark numbers. I just don't care because as long as the game runs and is acceptable to what I expect in the game then that's the only thing that counts.

DVDs run at 29.7 (I think it's .7, it may be something else.. I'm not 100%).

So anyone who is fine with a DVD quality movie, should be fine with around 30fps in a game. The reason people want HIGH fps isn't because they can see a whole lot of difference (although it IS possible.. A looooooong time ago my friend's pc got around 40fps in CS 1.6, and I couldn't play on it for crap because I was so used to my 99fps, that was set in stone), but because they don't want it to drop down too low. IMO, make your game LOOK the best you can without dropping under 30 fps, and you will be a happy person. Turn on all the eye candies you can, and THEN worry about the FPS. No point in getting 100fps if your game looks like shit

If you can see 70FPS you can probably see into the future as well.
