For those who own Alienware notebooks, do you have a car adaptor that works with the notebook? If so, please state the model number and link where it can be purchased.

Hey Craig! This needs a sticky in the tech support area!

Also to answer your question so far there is not a car adapter, the current solution is to use a power inverter to give you a standard 110V outlet.

I have been looking for a car adapter since mine was ordered. I have tried online retailers, Radio Shack, Bestbuy and Staples and I have come to this. I did not find a car adapter that matches the Voltage input of the A51m2 and the plug of it too. I'm going to have to get a 20 volt power inverter and the one I saw had a max wattage of 300 watts.

The one from APC does the trick (it's sold in some Best Buy stores)... the Cyberpower model (BB's own brand) has a lower voltage and just doesn't cut it.

DC/AC Converter!

I use a regular 300Watt DC/AC conerter an plug it in just like I do in the house I know Im converting from dc to ac bac to dc but it does the trick!

Powered a small TV and an XBOX all the way from VA to FL so I think i can handle my laptop!

This one is more compact than the one I have but specs are the same!
This thing can power anything not just laptops will have to use your standad ac adapter that came with your laptop though!

Actually guys, none of these are any good....in fact AW doesn't reccommend ANY car adapter because they can't handle the power that the AW laptop sucks from it (180W). It's posted in their forums.

Looks like the only option is to buy another primary battery.

How many volts is 180 watts translated into?

Drew is correct...I was under the influence that we could use such power inverters. In fact it is dangerous to our systems if they are underpowered.

I would take Drew's advice and get another battery for now. It's the only safe bet. Now if they would just paint those darn things...

ok.. thank you drew and craig for clarifying that. What can i use to charge a battary. So i could use one in the car, while one is charging at the same time.
Your best bet is to make sure both batteries are charged before you leave. Hopefully you won't be on a 4-5 hour trip. If that's the case, buy 2 more batteries.

ok, how long will it take for a battary to charge while i am using my lappy, powered by the outlit.
Only about an hour / hour and a half in my instances.

Yoda, we already concluded that it is a safe bet to just use extra batteries.

So what?

I already had a spare battery... hehehe

I also travel via plane so the air/car adaptor comes in handy (you'd need too many batteries on the flight to AU/NZ for it to be feasible).
