These will be the A3 core duo eplacement [basically the entry level ASUS notebook] but will not break below the $999 barrier, like the A3 did...

Great for those who can't pay more than around $1000, but still want the ASUS quality.

This is the first time I've seen mention of this particular model - is this an Ensemble? I'm a bit confused as to the placement of it among Asus' various models they have out now or have coming out soon. Then again, perhaps Asus is just trying to cover all its bases with all sorts of configurations to satisfy everyone. Can I assume that it will fall into the same target group and price level as the S96J/Z96J and Z92T, but instead with an Intel/Nvidia combination? Personally, I prefer AMD+Nvidia; thus I have been watching the release of the Z92T, but the lack of SATA support somewhat worries me.

Thanks.

Yes it's a Ensemble, don't know what their strategy is even W3J is P-ATA, some forum members has mention that S-ATA and P-ATA is about the same speed, you may search forum to find out.

Yes, I have read the argument concerning the real-world difference in speed between SATA and IDE (a negligible one), and therefore will probably not be the ultimate deciding factor for me - as long as it's a 7200rpm HDD. Actually, DVI will probably be more important for me in the long run once I buy a larger external monitor (eliminates S96J/Z96J). So basically I guess my question is which of these is designed best. I prefer the placement of the VGA and DVI ports in the back like on the Z92T, but I can't help but feeling as if the pictures of the F3Jm seem to show a higher level of refinement and build quality. Yes, I know that Asus is top-notch all around and you can't just trust company-released photos, but does anyone have any input on these models yet?

I'll post the real photos next week as soon as the shipment arrives next week.

The F3 is an A series notebook... just a different name for some reason.
It's the A3 Core Duo upgrade [as mentioned above].
You can find those pics all over the interweb.

ok, maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing, but I'm having difficulty locating this A3 you're talking about. And maybe they are overpriced, but AGear Notebooks seems to be the only one selling the F3Jm as of yet and it's nowhere around $1000. In fact, any of their configurations start at $1500. How is that Asus' entry level model? It appears to have better specs than some of the more expensive models even.
Is there any timetable or estimation of when new Asus notebooks will arrive? So far it seems they are just popping a new one out whenever they feel like it.

The entry level will be the F3F, which ASUS gave an MSRP of $999.
The F3Jm will be befier with an nVidia 7600 512MB GPU, twice as much RAM, and and upgraded CPU [T2400 Core Duo]... MRSP, $1499.

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding models, specs, etc...

Welcome to the world of ASUS North America... Unforunately they have the smallest pull with ASUS Taiwan, so they have to put up with what they can get, when they can get it. For more details, you can always find plenty of previous discussions about this in this forum.

Do you know of any asus models besides the v6j that have a standard ratio glossy screen?
Well that and the V6V [a few left], but the V6 is the only series left with a 4:3 ratio...
The ASUS Lamborghini VX1, based on the V6J, is also 4x3.

c9tech, do you know whether the screens for the V6V, V6Va, and V6J are interchangeable, perhaps by keeping the cables with their original screens?
Yes, they are... if you can afford two models and voiding both of the notebooks' warranties.
Yup, VX1... I was mentioning 4:3 ratio notebooks currently available.
Originally, I was most interested in the Z70Va, and when I look back at the reviews and pictures, I still think it's one of the nicest notebooks I've ever seen. Perhaps this isn't fair because I haven't actually seen them in person, but these new built on Asus models seem to pale in comparison to the "elegance" of the Z70Va. Will there ever be an updated version of said model with similar aesthetics?
Hey GenTech, do the Z92T's have the Airgo built in 240Mbps WiFi adapter?
