No it does not, we use Intel Wireless Pro 2915.

F3JM is in stock, I'll take some photos tomorrow in Photos section:

The F3Jm and A8Jm seem fairly identical, spec-wise and therefore I am wondering how big a difference there is in size, both in their dimensions, and weight. Could you comment on this Gentech? Obviously I'm comparing two different sizes of notebooks, but does the A8Jm provide quite a bit more portability, or is the difference not that discernible?

They do have similar specs expect F3JM has built-in bluetooth, If you preffer portability then go for A8JM, it is lighter and easy to carry around.

Hi, according to Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/19/a...r1f-portables/ asus will be releasing 3 new notebooks, i like the V1 the best but i would have prefered it in 14" instead of 15.4" but at 0.98" thickness it should be pretty nice pricing and availability is not yet known but does anybody knows more about those new laptops?

From the ASUS Site:

Looks like quite a bit of ports on the docking statin...
That sure would be nice, but we can be sure to expect it in the $2000 price range, right?

Yeap.

Not surprising though.

When will the W3Js be in stock?

Are there going to be any AMD based models with WSXGA+ screens? I've got SXGA now and can't see going to a mere WXGA resolution...

I just received a similiar prototype model from Asus for testing purpose. I have to say this is one sexy laptop. I'm playing around with this toy and just drooling over it. Very very nice.

and how about that A8Tm - same as the A8Jm, but with a Turion X2 processor instead. Any news on whether it will be offered in the US?

It'll be Z92T barebone notebook, I don't think Asus plant to sell Ensemble notebooks with AMD processors in the US.

I was speaking about this model:
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?m...5&l2=26&l3=270
and discussed here

Someone listed it in another thread recently. Perhaps there won't be any US release for this, but why such averseness to AMD from Asus? They continue to release more and more notebooks with Intel and scarcely any with AMD.

Asus is one of the 4 Notebook Alliance (barebones) partners of Intel so they must have some kinds of agreement between them.

The main reason of Notebook Alliance partner and VBI programs is all because of Dell, Dell trying to pass their cost to all it's suppliers (Including Intel) to maintain their profit, that's why NA and VBI is nessasary because of each barebone sold required a processor to comes with it.

so no more info on this supposed A8Tm (14" with Turion X2 and Nvidia 7600) mentioned over at Notebook Review?

Hopefully I ask this question under the correct topic...

Will the asus W7J be released with a core2duo processor any time soon? It might already have been released, but I'm not sure it will keep its old model number.

Appreciate every answer.

given that Asus made a big deal out of their announcement saying all their current notebooks were Merom-capable, I would expect that they will release "updated" versions of most of their models, but I'm not sure exactly when they will be "released"/shipped.

Alright, thank you.

I read on a different forum that they will be released late september/early october. I hope that the maximum ram on w7j will then be 2 gb instead of the current 1.5.

ASUS A8Js and import duties

Hi guys,

I've read that ETA for A8Js in US market is mid October. I live in Italy (so I'm sorry for my english:-)) therefore I would know if anyone has a clue about import duties for notebooks shipped from USA to european markets because international shipping is my only way to get a good notebook (roughly speaking not a dell) with a reasonable amount of money.

Thanks in advance
Filippo
