Asus New Release Thread - G1p, G2p, V1Jp and more! - Page 5

well i understand the w2/w3/v6, but what about the blander looking/less slender/less compact units
i personally think the v6j looks like a sexy beast, same with w3v/w5f/w2v, they just don't boast the power like the bigger ones (if the v6j had a x1600 i'd pay 3k for it (aka lambo vx1), also never understood why the v6j (replacement/upgraded model) sports the 7400 GO which is less powerful than the older V6Va's x700). Asus stunted the V6J from reaching its full potential, if it had a x1600 in it, it would be flying, i think it would be the most popular model of all of them. But they probably wanted to save that for the lambo so pple will buy it for the premium price.
i think the v6ja and a7j are in need of a serious makeover. they're nice...but not high end nice. especially if they're sporting the x1600 and t2500 intel duo.
i say keep the thin n light notebooks the same, their designs are gold, just a little more for the more powerful/bulky models.

Kinda a newbie question here...

Can someone post a pic of regular 15" screen vs 15.1" wide screen vs 15.4" wide screen? I'm kinda confused on how they look like when compared to each other.

v6ja... no such thing, so it cant be redesigned...
a7j is a pretty new asus whitebook design, it just came out probably a few months ago. Don't know why asus would have released it just to discontinue the case a few months later.

Also, ASUS does have new whitebooks, look at the z62 series. Because of the last gen of ASUS whitebooks (many which were based on ensemble models) people have come to expect too much. ASUS is bringing out less expensive whitebooks, thus there is going to be a compromise in materials used and functionality over design. If you want style, then just go and buy an ensemble laptop.

People need to stop beleiving the new BTO's from ASUS are ugly. They're not!
Compare any ASUS BTO to any other notebook out there and it will still kick it's ass!
Ensemble's are simply more refined and designed to target the connoisseur.

When the Z71v first came out, a lot of people on the forums complained that it was ugly. But all the professional reviews I've seen comment on how nice it looks! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

well i don't think any1 else is offering a core duo + x1600 with a large 15inch screen and in a less than 5 pounds form factor, it'll be nice too if they include the IPC screen, it'll be a great laptop, maybe for like 2.5k but 3k? ouch

if they put out a v6ja, almost nobody will get the Lamb

It's called Z96J and Z96F:
Z96J will replace Z70VA, Z71V, has built-in camera, comes with ATI X1600 PCI Express 128 or 256 MB,final specs not confirmed.

Z96F will replace Z71A, no camera, Embedded Intel 945GM graphics card.

Z35F13.3”W to replace Z33AE's 12" LCD, reason: Z35F uses new super light weight LCD screens so it weights about the same as Z33AE's 12".

All Z92 series will be AMD Turion.

thanks for info guys. i can't believe they're retiring the z70va chassis! i was always under the impression that the z70va was one of the more popular models. anyone else think that this is a bad move?

Most everyone... but the A chasis is not as bad as people make it out to be.

I now have 2 of these A6 (A6Ja and A6Va) and they are actually great! The big plus is the integrated webcam. Honestly except from the carbon fiber look, the M6 chasis (Z70) does not have much to offer. They weight the same and the M6 actually feels thicker. The price difference however is huge. It seems that the A6 has sold better worldwide than the M6 that is why Asus kept it.

Confirmed info has been posted at the beggining of this thread.
Check it out!

I wish that W3J would hurry up and come out. An x1600 in a smaller than 15.4" laptop is beautiful. The Geforce 7400 has HALF the power of the x1600. 2000 vs 4000 3DMarks. The 7400 is just below the x700 and the x1600 is about the same as a 6800 non gt/pro/ultra.

As mentioned before, it will be the last Core Duo Ensemble refresh to come out.
Not even in production yet, so if you can wait... it's a plus.
