Laptop Magazine Reviewsm Sager

Hello,
Not sure if I'm the first to post this, but LAPTOP magazine, issue Jan 04', ran a review of the Sager 5680. A quote from the conclusion of the review stated that the 5680 is "One of the most powerful notebooks money can buy." Their only real complaints was the lack of a hardware on/off switch for wi-fi and sager's skimpy software. Since I don't really care about either of these it's really a great review. Sager also ran a full 4 page add of their own.

That would be illegal even given fair use laws. The article is copyrighted by the Author and/or Magazine. To scan it and post it would amount to a breach of that law. Best way would be to buy a copy for your own enjoyment.

It is unavailable

Good questions...
Emailing them would probably be a grey area because you could theoretically fall under fair use (although the fact that it is the whole article might be a bit dodgey). Posting them implies public display. Emailing is person to person. Actually the courts are still out on this given the issues with Napstar and such like.

Given the magazine to someone else to read is ok (silly isn't it when you think about it), even if you sell the magazine to them. Something to do with contract law. I can't remember the exact legal reasoning and I am not going to get out my dusty contract law text books either. I had enough of that the second time I went back to uni. (I know some people never learn - you would think an engineering degree was enough but no I had to have a law degree as well ).

You could always order a copy from an American newsagent I suppose. Stupid laws really.

In truth, there is no grey area - you are not allowed to make copies without the permission of the copyright holder. Furthermore, it matter not whether you are publishing to one person or 1,000. Fair use would allow you to give your copy to a friend, but it does not allow you to copy it. That said, I'd stop worrying about it and post the pictures for somebody who isn't actually able to buy a copy.

The 5680 does have a hardware on/off switch for the Wi-Fi, it's Fn+F11. These people should read the little slip that came with the laptop.

They're referring to a dedicated standalone button that toggles the wi-fi like on the new Alienware Area-51m and other various notebooks...

OH NO! A semi-mainstream review of a SAGER. I can see being sold at WalMart is inevitable, aaaaiiyyeeeeeee! Eventually, even silly people will have them. Got to find a new buhleeeeeeding edge machine nobody's ever heard of.

Maybe I can get some of SAGERs crew to defect and start a new, edgier company, same quality, same great prices, less legacy tech. Perhaps the first PCI Express laptop with an FX-51.

This review of Sager is a good thing in my opinion...for both the consumer and the company.

If this were legal, then anyone could just avoid buying the issue and use a copy of the information that we wanted. Not going to happen. Sometimes the company that is being reviewed pays to be able to post the artivle on their web site; however, again, it's not free. Besides this thing only costs about a buck - surely you could spring for that?

you live almost halfway around the world from where they sell it?
7000 miles is about 2 1/2 times the size of the USA from side to side

That's why they invented postage, the telephone and credit cards .
