Hello
I started having some problems just over a week ago with my laptop. I've been in email communication with techsupport at Sager, with mixed results. I found another thread here that made me think it was a problem with the memory, but it does not look like that is the case.
Here is what is happening.
Here is what I have done so far:
Right now the Level 3 Technical Support and Systems Administrator in me is telling me that I'm having some hardware issues with either the motherboard, bios or the Processor. Although I'm not familiar with this hardware to the point that I would like to make that assumption.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I started having some problems just over a week ago with my laptop. I've been in email communication with techsupport at Sager, with mixed results. I found another thread here that made me think it was a problem with the memory, but it does not look like that is the case.
Here is what is happening.
- My laptop will go into a continual reboot cycle.
- If I let the laptop continue to reboot, after about 3 hours I can finally get a successful boot up.
- When I am unable to boot, and I run the memtest program I will get memory errors. (I do not know enough about this program to interpret the type of errors that I was getting)
- When I am able to boot into the laptop the memtest program does not show any errors.
- When I am able to boot into the laptop I have been able to reboot the laptop with no issues.
- If I let the laptop sit turned off for an hour or more, I have a high likelihood of having memory errors.
- With brand new memory I can still receive the same errors of bad memory.
Here is what I have done so far:
- I have ran fdisk, and fdisk /mbr
- Formated the hard drive as FAT32
- Reinstalled XP from the recovery disk.
- Reinstalled the drivers for the laptops hardware.
- Tested the memory with a utility called memtest86 from www.memtest86.com According to the memtest program, errors can be caused by: system memory, video memory, processor, L1 and L2 cache, or mother board.
- Purchased a brand new stick of memory and installed it.
- Ran chkdisk at reboot. With no errors.
Right now the Level 3 Technical Support and Systems Administrator in me is telling me that I'm having some hardware issues with either the motherboard, bios or the Processor. Although I'm not familiar with this hardware to the point that I would like to make that assumption.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
