multiple routers and issues

I am in college and have a networking question. there are two networks, one is a lan which i get my internet through, and the other is my own, a wlan. i would like to use the wlan so that my friends and i can plan games without going online. each of our computers have both a wireless card and a wired card. The other two computers i tried this on could connect to both routers, assuming that the lan is connected to a router since we live in a dorm, and still have internet connection. when i try and connect, my computer will only allow one. if i connect to the wireless network, i loose my internet, if i turn off my wireless, i get it back. suggestions?

no one knows?

heh what is sad, if I could sit down and play with it, I could probably make it work. Try this, set your wireless network (for you and your friends lan) as an ad hoc network, and set you computer as an ICS on it. so your friends can connect to the internet through your computer, and it should do both then... maybe someone with more experience can explain better than I can.

Try running CMD (command line) and then in command line type

route print

Check the Interface List part, is your wireless card listed before wired?
That might be a culprit. Windows seems to choose default gateway from whatever active interface is listed first. Don't know how to change order though. Playing with metrics (accessible in Advanced dialog in TCP/IP config for interface/connection) or adding persistent routes might help but I would not go that way personally.

Also, do you use fixed IP on wireless network or DHCP? What about DNS settings for wireless? Do you have NETBIOS over TCP/IP enabled?

yes my wireless is listed before the wired. the ip, subnet mask and stuff are all manually configured for the wired and have to be since i am in a dorm in college. the wireless though are all automatic. i am unsure what netbios over tcp/ip means, but both connections have both installed
