Remember in the days of CD and cassette players? For many people not having radio was a deal breaker, same shall be true for MP3 players, some people like to mix in some live radio while on the go, not just their collection of tunes.
Althought this not not a crucial feature, it adds a second functionality to the player... VOICE RECORDER! Ever seen those little digital and tape sony voice recorders? Well, now you don't need one because its all on your player. Probably not a useful feature for many people, but some will find it handy. Students for example, they might not be feeling so hot in class one day, and would rather record the lecture and listen to it at a later time.
granted, however, its just another benefit that 260odd k colors looks better than just 60k colors, be it movies, pictures, and just browsing around menus, makes it much more pleasing to the eye.
ACC is a proriatary codec, OGG is open source. OGG is a fantastic alternative to MP3 for Linux users, and those who want better sound quality at the same bitrate (in my case, 192vbr).
Great feature for copying tapes over to your MP3 players, yes you can rip CDs on a computer and drop the fiels off, not so much luck with tapes. So all you really gotta do is wire it in and let er rip.
What if you're listening to an important show one day or another, and you want to record it for future use, no need for a casette deck here! its all built into one.
aka USB on the go. It lets you plug in your digital camera into your player and lets you drop pictures off without a computer. Great for long trips if your camera has limited memory, you can just drop it off the player and skip bringing a laptop with you. YES..i found out ipod has an add-on that lets you do that...but then here we go with the add ons, its a STANDARD feature on EU and K spec irivers, and could be enabled on US spec players.
You open up the player's outer core, and replace the orginal carbon design with whatever you like. Pictures say it better than words:
