i6000: screen blanks to different color with sound still going

So this just started happening today. I have my internet, my messenger and windows media player going and all of a sudden the screen goes white with the music going and i can still use the media buttons. I have to shut down manually and then just now with all 3 going again, the screen went blue this time and with music still going and buttons working. So I shut down again. Things were working fine all this time, I have a fresh install and updated drivers from dell's site so what could be causing it? Thanks in advance.

I really need help on this. I cant even access dell's support email because they say my service tag doesnt exist. I recently reinstalled everything so i want to know maybe if i missed any important drivers from dell's site that'll solve my problem. I'd really appreciate(sp?) it. Thanks in advance.

Same problem here!

It practically always happens while chatting on msn messenger with winamp running in the background.

Instead of shutting down and rebooting, you can try closing and reopening the lid (with enough time in between for the computer to go in standby mode). Still quite annoying, but a little bit faster I guess

Hehe yea I happened to figure it out after i got annoyed and just shut the lid and opened it again. I wanna know whats causing it so i can fix it. I'd rather take my final over than be on the phone with dell.
