Driver Question...

Thread Starter
This question is for anyone who's received their laptop in the last month or so...

When you initially received your lappy, were all the device drivers (video, lan, intel chipset, etc) already up to the latest or did you find yourself downloading driver(s) from Sager's website ?

Your feedback is appreciated

I think Sager had a driver update party on dec. 12th. Units shipped after that appear to have latest bio and drivers, except the ATI's. Go with Omega anyways.

Where can I get the omega drivers?
I'm downloading the new mobility 9600 driver as I write, and want to get the best.

from my experince omega's generally run slower then the newest ATI ones. Inorder to get the omegas to work you have to download an earlyer version that supports moble chipsets.

a word of advice: Once you install the omegas and try to switch over to the new ATI becarefull as the ATI drivers like to install directX on their own. Which can sometimes jack up your direct X and a new install is the easyest way to fix it.

could you elaborate on that gratto?

not sure what part so I'll explain both.

Run 3dmark with omega drivers get a score of 2094.
Switched over to the new ati drivers and got 3000.
granted 3dmark isn't the greatest for benchmarking but it does give you a rough idea.

I had the older omega drivers that could support moble chipsets and I went through and uninstalled all of thier drivers and went back just to the default generic video adapter then installed the new sager ATI drivers. Well it installed ok then went off and installed directx 9.1a (without asking) overwritting some of the 9.1b directx files and blowing directx games outta the water due to incompatable files.

maybe this won't happen to everyone but it got me for sure.

There was a thread recently that stated the new Sager ATI drivers (Dec 12) were junk. Anyone else had that experience or was it just an isolated incident? I'm not sure if I should install the Omega's or the ATI drivers.

There is something wrong with the new Omegas...GTA:VC blacks out, and I'm try to find some other games that black out, too.
