I have an air port card and it connects to the net via a linksys wireless router. I am running OSX 10.2.8 I don't have this windows printing feature that is what is stopping me. I tried reinstalling the OS still nothing.

hmm, hate to say it but u may need to upgrade the OS to at least 10.3. i'm only familiar w/ 10.3+ but on 10.3 and 10.4 the networking and printing via the networks has been relatively painless.

Good !

Now can you see your other networked computers in Networks on the MAC ?. If can not see the shared folders on your Windows PC's from the MAC you will not be able to setup printing over the network from the MAC.

THIS IS FUNDAMENTAL YOUR MAC MUST BE IN THE SAME WORK GROUP as your PC's.

Which version of Windows are you running ?. Try viewing the computers attached to your network

For MS XP goto MyComputer-->MyNetworkPlaces-->ViewNetwork Computers.

You should see the MAC. Once this is . sorted out we can start to get your printer attached to the PC to print from the MAC.

However you may wish to take a look at

As you may need to 'mess with' OSX Jaguar or consider an upgrade to Tiger.

yeah, good point. i mentioned the network visibility b4, but it does help to have them in the same workgroup. Macs and XP Pro systems will setup by default as part of WORKGROUP while XP Home systems will default to MSHOME. even so, ideally it still shouldn't be an issue in seeing the network. i've had my iBook on WORKGROUP and my desktop on MSHOME. the network window just give me folders for the 2 groups and i can connect accordinlg to the systems within them.

I have had problems when they do not share the same workgroup name I wondered if it was because the access point attached to my Windows PC was set not to broadcast it's ID. Also you may find 'intruders' if you use the defaults such as MSHOME on a wireless network. Once someone has detected a wireless network they will try known default names. I am not so worried if they use my Internet access. I encrypt all my data files to try to avoid them as WEP keys do not seem to work with multiple access points or a relay/extender.
