how to make my mac ipod a windows ipod

bought a new in box 10gb ipod for $10.74 today at my local goodwill. not having any success getting her to interface with my windows box, which is, unfortunately, my primary unit. i've installed the ipod software from apple's site, and when i connect the ipod to the machine, the ipod just blinks the message "Do not disconnect" and nothing ever really happens. any help is really appreciated.

Can anyone who walks in good will buy from there? Seemes like there's some killer deals there...

Did you check that it works with your Mac, just to make sure it does function properly?

goodwill is open to all. i havent yet tried it on the mac, but it does work. the OS was good and windows recognizes the 10gb volume
