Acer Ferrari 4006

Thread Starter
I am looking for a new laptop and saw an Acer Ferrari 4006 available. Don't know much about it, seems to have same specs as 4005 except it has a 2.2 Turion and 120 gb HD. How new is the 4006? How soon will the "next" Ferrari come out to battle the duo cores announced at CES and Macworld? I am torn as what to get. I have an old Powerbook 867mhz g4 that has served me well, but I need something with more umph. The new Apple Macbook Pros are nice, but left me wanting more. I hope a new Ferrari is released soon with a better vid card. Any ideas when the next Ferraris will be announced and any educated guesses on specs (you can tell I'm an Apple user, always guessing when and what will come out next

Actually from the specs I saw the FR4006s only difference from the 4005 is the Processor. The specs I saw still said 100 gig HD.

The 4005 wasn't released until somewhere around may so it will be awhile before you see a new one. You might wan't to look at the new Acer TM8204 if you are looking for something with updated graphics.

thenerds.net has 4 in stock, so they say. I think that it is a typo saying they only have a 100GB HD. Most of the literature I have seen shows a 120GB HD.

My advice would be to wait for the new F1 season. Acer's sponsorship of the team likely means that a new model will be announced when the new Ferrari F1 car debuts.

I am hoping for AM2 mobile: TurionX2, dual channel DDR2 and a next gen video system.

I bought an F4005 3 months ago it's great...I'm waiting for whatever is available in 2008 mid summer LOL IOW, get what you need NOW....just check price/performance per this forum....the 4006 I think is not worth 300 bux more IMHO....go for it!
