BT's BIG 9750 Review - Page 2

Very nice review - concise, good conclusions.

Seems to be a problem across the board with certain Clevo/Sagers with the terrible headphone jack. I have a 5320 Sager - same problem. I would have bought an Audigy 2 ZS, but I am going to stick my neck out and wait for the X-Fi.

Definitely a huge notebook.

Cheers

I'm having an issue with the 9750 and the Linux Nvidia drivers. For some reason, it isn't picking up my laptop display? It automatically chooses PCI:2:0:0 as the BusId. What is the BusId for the laptop display, or how do I get it to choose that?

PCI:2:0:0 is correct. I recommend that you post your xorg.conf in the linux area and we'll get you sorted out quick enough. Fortunately, the video drivers are a piece of cake once you know the basics.

just do this:

How did you get Oblivion to play at that resolution?

Is unplayable for me unless I down it a bit, and even then I have to have settings turned down.

EDIT: And the computer seems very portable to me, I don't really see how it's any less portable than other computers. I take mine around campus and to different cities.

It's just heavier than other laptops, is all.

When I originally did the review Oblivion wasn't out, obviously. This is going back to january... I personally play oblivion at 1600x1200 with a few settings turned down. I could probably overclock (my machine is a monster overclocker) and get the settings up a little higher, but i'd rather not risk damaging the gpu. My desktop machine is another story. I run oblivion in Linux with Cedega now so my settings are set a little lower than they were in windows.

As far as portability goes, it works as a great portable desktop. I bring this machine from home to work every day. The amazing thing is that this is pretty much the only machine I use, I do graphics work in it, web programming, play games on it, multimedia, etc. I don't have to make any sacrifices.

Thing is I rarely run it on battery and never use it in the car, it's just too big. That's the only area it's not very portable. I may get another more portable machine for more portable uses.

Sorry, somehow I read Civilizations IV as Oblivion. Probably something to do with it being Elder Scrolls IV and all that, haha. ^^

Here's my xorg.conf file. Hopefully this is an easy fix.
