When I first got my 6000d I tested it out:

Medium Quality
640x480
Everything under advanced options set to "Yes"
2x AA

This is at stock ATI btw, it was definately playable... but once u play a game like this on a desktop w/ a 6800gt, it's hard to 'downgrade' and play on a lappy... so I just stuck w/ playing Doom3 on my Desktop rig

high, 1024, 2x aa, 4x af, above 25 fps throughout the entire game.

Ok myth dispelling, 64->128 isnt that big a difference, I use AA and AF in all my games with no problems

Due to the dark nature of the Doom 3 levels, AA isn't overly integral to the game in terms of graphical enjoyment. With some hardware enthusiasts slightly dissappointed by some texturing from the game, I'd put an emphasis on AF (and even then that isn't a huge deal since AF applies most to textures at far distances, which of course isn't too relevant for Doom 3 since anything 'far away' would also be dark). If you're on a video card with limited calibre (X300 fits that bill perfectly), then turn down the AA, and crank up the res as high as possible (whilst retaining a playable fps of 30-60 of course). This minimises noticable aliasing and maximises noticable texture quality issues.

^ yep, it does help on that but the textures aren't that good in the first place. 2x aa should be enough to get rid of most of the jagged edges with a few minor ones... 4x aa would be overkill on some games for the x300.. 6x.. i wouldnt really try except on really old games.. lol
