I’ve had a Sager 5600P laptop since 2003 and I’m getting a little tired of it. It’s constantly overheating spitting out hot air from its many loud fans, the CMOS battery’s dead (so I have to set the time every time I boot in). I get less than 15 minutes when using just the battery and the graphics driver started corrupting.

So, I’m thinking about getting a new laptop battery, CMOS battery and replacing the processor with a Pentium M (to reduce the drain on the battery and keep it cooler). I though these Sager Notebooks were suppose to be great when it comes to upgrades. Has anyone swapped out their processor to a Pentium M and had good results? And are there any links on just how to replace the CMOS battery?

Thanks for the help in advance. This is a great forum.

Grab the service manual. It's linked in one of the stickies. I've never tried an M. Good luck.

Heh, mine does the same thing, but the cmos battery is just fine. I think it's the bios chip itself.

Good luck with the upgrades, however you might be better off just getting a newer laptop.
