Ibm T23 questions

Thread Starter
I just bought a refurbished IBM t23 computer PS-m 1.13ghz 512 nothing to fancy. what i have a question about is the fan will kick on once every 10 - 15 minutes stay on for about two then shut off and it will repeat. Is there anything i should be concerned about. Also the right pannel on the keyboard where the sticker that says intel inside its sorta hot like it makes my palm sweat should i be concerned about this?

The fan kicking on is normal -- the computer uses it to cool off, but doesn't need it on all the time. As for the right palmrest, I don't have a T23 here, but on my T43 the hard drive is under the right palmrest, so that might be what's heating it up.

Yes, the fan kicking in is normal. If it is kicking in under very light load though, you might want to pull apart the machine and see if its seated correctly. Mine only kicks on when it gets up to ~70C, and I have a 1.2ghz p3 in it. As for the palmrest, it will get hot if you have a hot-running HDD in there, as the HDD is housed in the lower right hand corner. I have a 60GB 7k2 drive in mine and it never gets hot, so a replacement HDD could solve that problem.
