PC notebook with powered FireWire

Hello,

is there any PC notebook (not Mac, or the new MacBook) that would have a powered 6-pin IEEE-1394a connector usable for bus-powered audio interfaces, like the Presonus Firebox?

ALL the PC notebooks I know of have just 4-pin mini connectors and that SUCKS, cause if you want to do any field recording, you're lost. (And even when you're running on AC, why should you bother with another wallwart when it can be powered through the FireWire bus?)

Thanks a lot for help.

I know of a total of ONE.

It is a Samsung notebook, though I cant remember the model number right off hand. It is the only one that I or several people I know have found.

PC manufacturers apparently havent figured out that ppowered ports are a 'good thing'

That's great. So unless I want to carry another battery pack with me, I'm basically f**ked. Or have to buy a Mac. (Which is nearly the same in my book. :-)

Samsung notebooks aren't distributed around here, but thanks for the reply anyway.

Long live the ignorance of PC manufacturers!

Field recorder are invented for a reason is all I can say

Not that I dont understand, but personally I would buy a Mac(Well maybe wait till reviews on their new one come out?), its part of the reason I got one, and I love not having to drag the wall wort for my interface with me.

Yeah, well, maybe that will be the only solution...

What I always hated about Macs was the feeling of being sort of a captive... "Do you think there's something wrong with your hardware? Run the included system test and if a happy face appears, your system is OK."

Now it changes. Macs will be no less and no more than ordinary PCs.

They just happen have a powered FireWire port. Doh... :-\
