Extending Battery LIfe

I just got an i6k. Im testing the battery life as I type this. I've had it on for about 30 min with a wifi connection and several other programs running on the background. Well, my battery life is down to 67%. How can I extend the battery life? Thanx for any info!

undervolt, other than that dont expect much out of a 6cell running lots of stuff.

Thanx. Now another question. I dl the Centrino Hardware Control program. I'm not sure what to do on the CPU voltage screen. Is there a guide somewhere? All I want to do is bump my battery life an additional 30min - 1hr if possible. What do I need to change? Thanx

Yes, he is definetely "search button lazy".
There are some threads in this forum already explaining all about undervolting, i8kfangui and so on, search for them, read them, understand them and than decide how you want to act.

at most undervolting will give you 20-30 min extra. NO MORE!

735 can go .700 low, and 1.004 High.

maybe lower. but thats a good start.

im sure you will find much more about undervolting on the sticky atop this forum.

have fun, but dont have TOO HIGH of expectations from it. undervolting is more for heat purposes.

whatever u do, let centrino HC set your cpu speed on dynamic switching.
battery power is of course, "battery"

My battery life actually went up by approximately 1:15 to a maximum running time of 4:30 on battery-mode.

Temperatures also dropped by approximately 10-15 degrees.

I think that might be wishful thinking.

Mine went to 5:05, (max stated on the taskbar it obviously wont last that long) on a 6 cell with fans off and undervolted. with powerplay on(makes a huge difference) getting a 9 soon so i wont be so concerned

Are you running the latest Beta version, or the latest non-beta version, for Centrino HC?

that pictures shows your computer all right, but what are you doing with it when that time was caculated? NOTHING. that really proves nothing to me or the rest of us other than your computer can do math. and whats the point of having the lappy on and not doing anything with it? (:

try running some things, using some processor power. you wont get 5hrs.

those things are never right, its just a snapshot of what you currently are using. it will drop when you start using your computer

though

Hey hey, i never stated i got the 5 hours, re-read my post again :P

i merely said it said 5 hours.

nevermind though, 9 cell soon. 15 cells of happiness
post #15 of 21
i was gonna say (: 5.5hrs on a 6cell, and im only getting 5ish on a 9cell?

WTF (:

I finally researched (not that lazy anymore, ha!), and I followed the sites recomendations and I couldnt be happier. Now I'm getting about 3.75 hrs instead of 1.5 - 2.0. Thanx to you guys!
thats an awful big leap. id say you get more like 3.4-3.8 hrs max off the 6cell.

but anything is BETTER than 1.5 hrs (:
But really make sure powerplay is on max battery when on Battery, a good 30 mins right there
