Nvidia GO 7800 GTX Graphics disappointment. - Page 3

they have a section specifically for the go card. I dont know if this inhibits the card in any way but I think at 81.94 there are some fixes specifically for Sager. I admit a certain amount of laziness in that I just se the latest drivers set for our card. This is prolly also the easiest for anyone who does not know what ther doing.

Download here:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_mobile_81.94.html

run it, restart, go on with your life......

Those are the drivers that will not install. When you try to install them it says it can't find any hardware to match the drivers.

My main reason for getting this high end lap top was to be able to play games such as BF2 and others and be able to really max out some of the settings. I tried to set the graphics to high on a 800x600 resolution on BF2 only to experience major frame skipping, and slow play. They market the 7800GTX as the same as the desktop card. The desktop card can run this game with those settings and even set the resolution higher and it breezes threw! However, this card does not. I also have less graphic demanding games that also have the same problem and with this kind of setup I don't see why that is. I also tried to download the latest driver for the card from Nvidia but everytime I tried to install it I get some kind of message stating the folder can't be found? Does anyone know why this card is so laggy?? If I wanted this kind of performance I would of just stuck with my Dell 8200 and its 64mb ATI 9000 series card. It's 6 years old and plays just as good.
Your system has issues or your configuration is screwy, this game hauls ass on the 7800 GTX Go...

I use stock nVidia 81.94 MOBILE forceware. Are you using the correct forceware? There is a specific forceware for the nVidia 7800 Go GTX on nVidia's website. Other drivers will work but you will see less than optimal performance. I bet your using the incorrect driver which is everything, wrong driver = crappy performance. This looks like a driver issue unless you have a bad card.

Call tech support if all else fails...

oops helps if you read the whole thread :P
It is RAM related DOC, get 2 GIGS and the game will run fine on your rig...

GT2- Firefly Forest: 20.4 fps
GT3- Canyon Flight: 33.0 fps

CPU Tests CPU Score: 4764
CPU Test 1: 2.4 fps
CPU Test 2: 4.2 fps

I hope everyone who told me to run this knows what these numbers mean? I tried messing with the settings on BF2 some more and still can not run the game without skipping. I have tried online, single player, etc. No matter what I get skipping and lagging. The only way it runs smooth is at low settings. It will run great at any res. as long as it is on low. Medium and High no matter the res. creates the same skipping and laggy problems. I don't get it Any more suggestions would be great! If these numbers help out the guys who told me to run that program mean anything let me know. A big Thanks!!!!!
6687 is low for your machine and is driver related, I would almost bet anything that you have the incorrect driver installed.

You need to do a google for "Driver Cleaner Professional", remove the crap drivers and re-install the new ones.

FOLLOW THE DRIVER CLEANER INSTRUCTIONS TO A "T".

Use the 7800 Go GTX specific forceware and I am betting very strongly your score goes up 75 points...

The stock 82.12 driver(with the performance inf) I got 6995 on the 3dmark05..so that does seem a little on the low side.

Yeah that score is low and I think it's because he is using incorrect drivers, just a hunch, could be wrong of course...

Can you post a link to your 82.12 drivers with the performance .INF? I would like to look at that .INF if possible.

Thanks in advance and nice score...

Has anyone found a solution to the problem with the Nvidia drivers that say: "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware". I only seem to be able to install 79.31 successfully. I tried 82.12, 81.85, and 81.94. Anyone know how to resolve this?
old issue, look up the threads that gives you the solution, basically you need to copy the .INF over to your setup directory.

First, that score if fine for not being OCd. Second, I have scores only in the 3-4 k range with my Hypersonic FX 7 4800 and 7800 GTX go. Seems I had a bad videocard. Swapped out for new card, now I get 7600 in 3dMark 05. I get around the same with my DIY desktop AMD 4400 X2 and 7800 GTX 256 meg card all liquid-cooled. I think I will beat that score once I have upgraded my Alienware ALX with dual 7800 GTX 512s, FX 55, and a second liquid-cooling line so everything but the card drive has H20 Cooling

BTW: My lappy is prettier than yours Unless yours came from Hyper and Smooth

Is a score of 5084 low for this system?

9750
X2 4600
1GB ddr400 pc 3200
nvidia go 7800 gtx
2x 100gb 5400rpm in raid 0
Drivers 81.12 with performace .ini

I ran it with the the 79.xx drivers and got 4687 and I'm wondering if I my score should be around 6000.

Same story is with gf6600, gf6800 and ati cards. Here is the specs taken from nvidia site (www.nvidia.com):

GeForce Go 7800 GTX(notebook):
Graphics Bus Technology PCI Express
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec.) 38.4
Fill Rate (billion pixels/sec.) 10.32
Vertices/sec. (million) 860
Pixels per clock (peak) 24
RAMDACs (MHz) 400

Geforce 7800(desktop):
Graphics Bus Technology PCI Express
Memory 512MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec.) 54.4
Fill Rate (billion pixels/sec.) 13.2
Vertices/sec. (million) 1100
Pixels per clock (peak) 24
RAMDACs (MHz) 400

Make sure you have the latest drivers, it should work just fine and performance should be pretty close to desktop version.
Actually, the cards are the exact same, you are comparing the 512MB version of the desktop card to the 256 notebook card. If you compare the 256MB versions they are identical.
yea right. the performance is pretty much identical. just the 512mb version is faster because of the higher clocked memory and core.

Would putting another GB of ram boost me up to 6000? Im just trying to figure out why maxed systems get 7000+ while mine (although not maxed, but pretty freakin good) is only getting 4687 with 81.12 drivers.
That is a very low 3dmark05 score for your system, and not ram specific. I have seen 14000 scores running on systems with only 1g of ram (of course much better cards etc).
I would say that there is a driver issue, or a heat/hardware related issue. Check your temps and clean your drivers out then install the newest ones.
Make sure that all the battery saving options are turned off!
This can cut your scores in half or worse depending what your card and cpu are being underclocked to.
An easy way to check is go to my computer properties and double check the cpu clock speed.
Your system should get 7000+. 5720's with intel m processors are getting (atleast on this forum) in excess of 7k.
If the 7800gtx go is trully the same as the desktop counterpart you should be able to reach 9500ish scores max (with oc'ing and some creative cooling)
But I would say a realistic score would be 7500-8000.

What does everyone else think?
I have yet to get my pctorque sager, but am speaking from a desktop point of view. I have done intensive tests during my free time with my desktop running one gtx vs two gtx's, oc'ing, different drivers etc.
From this I know drivers can really mess things up..... especially with two sli cards

...I should take some pics and post my desktop system while I wait for my 5720 ... unless you want to see my loaned ub3r l337 ibook

the 7800go gtx will never reach 9500 points. the most (by far) users get with heavy oc (480/1300 clocks) is around 8000 and not more. even the 7800gtx 512 mb with 550/1800 is barely able to achieve 10k
post #58 of 70
Well I have the power set to always on. I had 79.xx forceware which got me a score of 4687, then installed 81.12 with performance inf and that got me 5084. I just installed 81.95 and ill see how that goes. I don't really think its a heat issue as the fans hardly come on, and I have a lappy cooler, but I'll check that out. Could my card be too underclocked?
I've just checked and endeed 512mb version is clocked higher (510-550/1500-1700). However, the 256mb version of desktop GF7800GTX ranges (400-490/1100-1300). Mobile version is clocked (400/1100) on average. So frequency wise desktop version of 256mb counterpart is still slightly faster then mobile, although both have the same architecture.
Yes the frequency is very similar with the go and the 256 gtx. Let's leave the 512mb one out of here lol, way too expensive to get one let alone two....
with 510 core and 1350 memory clock speeds I was able to get 9500ish scores with one card***desktop.
For reference my desktop is:
amd x2 3800+ at 2800mhz FSB:280
1g ocz platinum 2.2.2.5 1:1
two 256mb eVGA branded 7800GTX's @ 510 core 1350 memory
(only one for score above... two max I have achieved is 14009)

From what I have heard, it is nearly impossible to get the GO to these frequencies because of the heat.
Hopefully the newer driver will do the trick.
Make sure to get rid of the old one with drivercleaner. - sure you have heard this a billion times

well, goodluck!
In a couple days I will be messing around with drivers as well
