The future after Asus Z70Va?

Almost every day I check a handful of reseller sites to see whether there are cool new models. At the moment I think the best bang-for-the-buck is probably the Asus Z70Va (according to my needs).

The thing is, this model is already like 4 months old at least. Yeah, that's not old, and it's much newer than my Sager 4020 which is almost 3 years old.

I think most of the manufacturers are on hold waiting for the new dual Intels or something like that. And I expect the new models will have dual cores plus giant-monkey-kong-GPUs for teenage gamers. I don't need that.

I want a not-so-heavy machine with good battery life (3+ or 4 hs), GOOD SCREEN (but don't need those GPUs with more RAM than the main memory), a quiet one, etc. etc. ...

I can hear you... pretty much the Asus Z70Va except that I'd hate to buy one and a couple of months later a new model comes with an embeded webcam, better battery life and 1 pound lighter.

My main use is software development and the normal web/office stuff.
I plan to run some Linux distro if I can....

So... anybody knows of a cool upcoming notebook in the same category as the Asus?

My point exactly. I don't need any duo consuming more battery, generating more heat, needing bigger heat sinks, making a bigger, heavier, noisier computer.

All the new models seem to fit that description with respect to the ones they are replacing.

THe A6Ja looks pretty nice to me. Just seems to be replacing the Z70Va mostly.

except the reviews I see mention that the battery life is actually BETTER on the duo core. Therefore, it looks like you can have your cake and eat it too.

hmmm cake

we'll have to wait and see... i'm afraid that whatever is saved in cpu power will be consumed by an X9999ForceUltraPro graphics card with 1GB of RAM
