Does anyone know where you can buy a PCI-E mobile 7800GTX card? Unless I'm looking under the wrong section, I can't find them on mwave, newegg, buy or anywhere. Thanks.

These generally aren't for sale by standard stores. What kind of laptop do you have. If your laptop is upgradeable and supports the 7800GTX then you will have to contact the manufacturer of your laptop and order one from them.

gotcha, thanks. I was thinking of buying a cheaper gaming laptop w/o the 7800GTX and then maybe adding one to it. Didn't know if that'd be cheaper than buying a $3500 XPS M170 or something similar.

well, youll only be able to upgrade to the 7800 on a laptop that offers it as a stock option, or is that same form factor as one that does.

Kinda like people are doing with the 9300's

so the 6800 and the 7800 aren't the same size? I thought the new PCI-E was trying to eliminate that problem so they're upgradeable.

People have been upgrading the i9300's to the 7800, but you have to use a hacked bios and I am pretty sure it kills your warranty. THe day of user upgradeable laptop video cards really isn't here yet.

hmm... have you researched lately what the best bang for the buck in a gaming laptop would be?

Wow, there are a lot of choices on that one. Really depends on your budget. Let us know how much you want to spend and preferable screen size and other assorted goodies and we can hook you up really quick with some different models to check out.

Oh and yeah, I have been researching a laptop to buy for myself for over 8 months now.

all mobile graphics cards are manufactured for a specific laptop brand and model only. The Dell 9300 laptop owners bought the 7800s from Dell that were made for the Dell XPS2 which is essentially the same notebook as the 9300 but marketed differently.

Cool, thanks for all the info. For now I think I'm going to mess around with a Shuttle SN25P case and see if it's small around to carry around with me when need be. I don't need anything super portable so hopefully this will do the trick for me.
