Who has ordered a I9400 yet?

Hi All,

I'm curious to know how many of us have actually ordered an I9400. Which options did you choose (mainly Core speed and RAM config will differ I suppose).

What's your ETA and current status?

Mine is a T2600 with 1x 1024 (I'll add another stick myself).
Current ETA is 27th of jan and my current status is 'In PreProduction'

I orderd from Dell Netherlands btw.

What does your I9400 replace (if anything)? Mine will replace an ancient HP Omnibook with a 1GHz Celeron...

UMMM there is no such thing as a 9400, dells new lappy is not labeled inspiron its an E something or other, anyhow, same 9300 chassis with dual core platform, 5n1 card reader and 7800 go card with a higher price ofcourse.

In Europe, Dell's Intel Duo Inspiron is known as the 9400.

Ummm, yes there is. I ordered an Inspiron 9400. Not an E1705. That is probably Dell's internal name or something.

What's with all the negativity anyway?

Anyway, back to my original question:

Anyone else ordered a 9400? What specs? What's your ETA?

I'm guessing Dell is waiting for the processors or something as mine has been in preproduction (waiting for delivery of components) ever since I ordered it.

There is no 9400 available on the U.S. website at this time, but I'm sure it will be out soon. The 9300 is still up, but I wouldn't buy one now with the 9400 around the corner.

^ugh.

It IS up. The 9400 and E1705 are the SAME laptop. The E1705 is listed under one of the 9300 configs. It is available.

I thought they were just taking orders right now and they wouldn't ship for about another month on the i9400?
That seems accurate.

Yes, I realize that 3k is very expensive for all of that. The laptop is used for work and for graphics design, so Yonah will be nice for that.

Wondering when it will get out of preproduction stage.

and the GTX.
No coupons is why it's so expensive. Ironically, that's with the 300 dollars off discount thing. :P I could get the XPS with a GTX, but I'm a light gamer, and not into FPS. (world of warcraft and civ 4 are my most graphic intensive games). The dual core has a huge performance advantage over the pentium M for media encoding, photoshop, etc., which is exactly my line of work.

Here are some benchmarks of Pentium M vs Core Duo:

If I was a gamer or average user, the price would definitely not be worth it, however.
thats true. but still, if you got a 2.13 pentium m or something for more than half that price. but yeah the dual core is a lot better.
