Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Runs SLOW on my XPS Gen 2!

Hey folks! Sorry if there is another thread like this, but I have a problem. All my games ran silky smooth up until about a month ago. Now, San Andreas and some other games (like Ultimate Spider-Man) run like total dog-shit on my machine. I have tried using all my pest erardicators to get rid of any spyware (I have Pest Patrol, Microsoft Anti Spyware and Adaware). I ran a Virus scan and I even tried shutting off my virus scan so it doesn't run in the background while I play, as well as shutting down all open applications, but nothing works.

Any ideas? I mean this is a gaming PC, it would suck if I can no longer game on it!

Thanks folks!

i9kfangui.. search for it.

Could also be a fragmented hard drive. Try that to get a little speed boost... If you run Intel PRO Set, uninstall it all and just install the drivers and let windows handle it.

Not sure I understand this. What is "Intel PRO Set"? And what is "i9kfangui"? I am going to Defrag right now. And then I will try turning off the Frame Limiter.

Intel PRO Set is wireless software from intel... and i9kfangui is how to monitor temperatures and control fans.

Okay I just defragged my HD, and I will install those two programs. Faulkton what do you mean by "new XP Install"? I hope you aren't saying I need to reinstall my OS and format my drive. lol I am way too lazy for that!

Ran prefectly for me, I have 2GB of RAM but didn't note how much it used. Would have thought 1GB would be alright, not the most intensive of games (desgned for the PS2 after all, ha)...

The game stutters when I go to some places..

And the textures load so slowly.
I have the XPS as well.

I think this is a widespread issue. check at gta forums to make sure.

No problems with GTA:SA on my 9300... NV41 6800go

Leads me to think it may be an issue with the graphics card...

Dude, GTA works fine on mine, how can it not on yours? Look below for my specs, they're terrible, yet, San Andreas works like a beaut.

He's probably running it on max settings.

The game stutters whenever I go to Willowfield (?) where the Ammunation nearest to CJ's house is located.

ChiroVette, ever considered getting a xbox 360? Right now, you're looking at a steep learning curve into not only xps2 maintenance, but computer maintenance in general...
