Pixel tester??? besides Dead Pixel Buddy

I was wondering if there is a program besides DPB for detecting dead pixels. On our other notebook I have used the DPB and identifed dead pixel?? (s)?? however I am not certain of the number and don't know what Toshiba covers under their system guard warranty.
(Which expires in May/2006)
I would appreciate comments, as I am taking my notebook at the beginning of the week to have the touch pad for the mouse replaced as the cursor is sticking and the warranty depot called and asked me to bring my notebook in and so I thought I should inquire about the pixel issue on our other Toshiba.

( With DPB when it is in "Black" there is a pixel area that shows white dots and so that is why I am posting.)

These were not there when I tested before. Is this a screen issue???
The LCD has been replaced on that unit before when it started to show a reddish shadow from the bottom to the top of the screen.
Now I am noticing this area when the notebook boots and see white spots in the blue background that I have.

Are they dead pixels or pressure marks? When you push the back of the screen, it leaves white spots on lcd for few seconds, often when the pressure is too great, they become permanent. Unless you have screen protection, I doubt you'll get a replacement under warranty.

Thx for the reply, when I use DPB and click on the black colour it shows the white dots and almost like a connected white line about 1/16 inch.
When it is most predomininant is when I do an off line Defrag and the background is Dark Blue and you see this peculiar issue.

I don't know what you mean by pressure points? What I now see on the unit when it is logged off and the screen goes black that there is a strange lighter black that is in the best way I can describe like a " slightly lighter black shaped hill" that starts as a point above the "start" corner and the "time" corner and moves up to appear like this "slightly lighter black shaped 2 1/2 inch peaked hill that is about 1 inch across at the top horizontally" and then it slowly disappears into the main black screen. ( and again this is after the computer is shut down)

I thought that I should add this info. and it is about the only way I can describe it.
Hence I posted about the pixels as this issue that I just explained concerns me as I wonder if the 2 problems are connected and whether it is again another LCD potential problem starting to develop.
As I mentioned my warranty is up in May of this year and so I am wanting to insure that I monitor issues before the expiration period.

I have another one here that I found some time ago. It displays full-screen black-green-blue-red one after another. Leave me a private message with your email address if you want me to send it to you. It is about 120K.
